About Henny Donovan Motif

Motif has been established to showcase and sell the range of exciting up to date stencils from artist, designer and author Henny Donovan. Henny's reputation as the most contemporary stencil designer has grown rapidly - "one of the most fashionable collections around is Motif" - says the Mail on Sunday. Henny's innovation in stencil design has done much to dispell the bad rep of 80's stencils, and her break-through signature range of oversize designs has brought the decorative possibilities of stencilling firmly into 21st century living and design.  The Motif website is the only outlet to purchase Henny's original stencils and stencil paints.

Stencil Equipment

Try our Deluxe Stencil Brushes, which Henny has had specially made for the Motif website - with high quality domed, thick natural bristle heads - for smooth and professional stencilling. Use our high-density Stencil Sponges, for easy, smooth, professional stencilling and our innovative Stencil Rollers for stencilling larger areas, as well as standard Stencil Brushes and a divided Flower Palette for multi-coloured projects.

Stencil Cutting Equipment

If you want to cut your own stencil designs, use our Stencil Cutting Equipment, including surgical Scalpel Handles and Blades for precision cutting, sheets of 125 micron Blank Mylar for cutting your designs - comes in 3 different sizes and our Metal Ruler and Self-healing Cutting Mat.

Gilding Materials

Gilded finishes add beauty and interest to plain painted surfaces, stencilled areas and paint effects - great for adding special touches to projects. Included in this selection are Gold and Silver Dutch Metal Transfer for effective and easy gilding, as well as Acrylic Gilding Size, a soft Gilder's Mop and Gilt Wax in both silver and gold for adding a lustrous, metallic gleam to furniture and accessories, or to raised stencil work.

Artist's Brushes

Choose from this selection of Artist's Brushes which includes pure Sable Brushes, in three sizes, for fine detail work, a One-stroke artist's brush, particularly good for applying washes and two sizes of Artist's Fitch Brushes for mixing, painting, applying glue and size etc.

Specialist Brushes

Our Specialist Brushes include: A high quality, professional Badger Softening Brush for special finishes such as woodgraining or marbling; an Economy Badger Softening Brush, just as soft, but a little less thick - excellent for those starting out and wanting to experiment; a Hog Hair Softener with soft natural hair bristles, ideal for softening colourwash finishes and painting washes; a Stippling Block for textured and stippled paint finishes; a Gilder's Mop for gently removing excess gold and silver leaf; and a Natural Sea Sponge for stippled and sponged paint effects.

Decorator's Brushes

This range of Decorator's Brushes includes three sizes of high quality, professional Sprig Elite Purdy brushes - an extremely hardwearing synthetic bristle brush, ideal for acrylic paints and varnishes. Also included - three sizes of Standard Decorator's Brushes with black natural bristles.

Decorator's Tapes

Use these Decorator's Tapes for your decorating needs from masking-off stencil edges, protecting surrounding paint areas in decorating projects, defining areas to be decorated and edging and lining.

Decorator's Equipment

This range of Basic Decorating Equipment will make a useful addition to your toolkit. Try our Tack Rags for removing dust before varnishing or painting, or the Decorator's Sponge for colourwashing. Also available a Metal Spirit Level and Wet and Dry Sanding Blocks.

Motif deliveries 2010 - shipping worldwide 3 times a week

Motif despatches take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays weekly, except on Bank Holidays when despatches are on Tuesdays and Fridays. UK orders arrive 1- 2 working days after despatch (UK orders therefore arrive between 2 and 5 working days from receipt of order), Europe 3 - 7 days and USA and rest of world 7 - 10 business days after despatch. Individual confirmation of despatch date is emailed to customers Mon-Fri - this is not an automated reply, as we prefer to email customers personally to confirm exact despatch dates and any other relevant information specific to your order. Please note: Orders received before 12pm UK time on day of despatch will go out that day, orders received after that time will go out in the next despatch.

Postage and shipping

Shipping is calculated on the weight of the item/s that you buy as well as the delivery destination - see our Information and Enquiries page for a breakdown of weight categories and costs. Orders are carefully packed for safe delivery to all destinations. Larger orders of paints, equipment and books are individually packed for safe and best transportation to all destinations.

All Henny Donovan designs and paints are unique to Motif and currently the Motif product range is only available through this website on a mail order basis - you can order through the shopping cart or over the phone on +44 (0) 208 340 0259.  We ship to all worldwide destinations three times a week.
