Handy tips
Create classic chinoiserie style with this stunning design by upcycling cabinets and cupboards using traditional gold on red or black painted surfaces. Use a pale Stencil Paint such as Vanilla Stencil Paint and blush with Antique Gold Metallic Stencil Paint. Place the different pictorial motifs repeated in a random layout complementary to your chosen piece of furniture.
Or work on gold paint or gold leaf for a fully gilded look using Jet Black and Flame Red Stencil Paint.
Our illustrations also show the different motifs of the Chinoiserie Cabinet Maker's Theme Pack Stencil have been used to decorate an elegant blue decorative chest of drawers – by Clare Rafferty @melia_vintage. Clare has beautifully stencilled the chest using the smaller motifs on the top drawer and two larger motifs on the lower deeper drawers. She has worked with Antique Gold Metallic Stencil Paint and added a light blushing of Persian Blue Stencil Paint to the lower parts of each stencilled motif. Clare has also used this theme pack to create this beautiful Chinese cabinet by placing the different motifs to recreate the style of a traditional Chinese lacquerware cabinet.
